Half the battle for meal planning is remembering meal ideas without getting in a rut. Introducing my Post It Flags Meal Planning, both digital and traditional. Works well when you’re afraid to commit!
I’m working both angles this year to find out which one works best for me – digital or traditional! What kind of planner are you?
I truly love my traditional paper planner. I use lots of colors of markers and different stickers and colored post it’s. Honestly it’s the perfect size for me to write in and keep track of stuff but almost too big to lug around!
My digital planner I use I bought from an Etsy shop and is perfect for me! I use Good Notes as the app, I love the structure of it but it has so much flexibility to be creative and keep track of stuff! And I splurged and used some of my Christmas money to buy myself an Apple Pencil, I am truly amazed at how much different it is than a stylus.
Let’s just be honest, I’m not a good meal planner! I’ve tried before and failed miserably.
My last attempt would be awesome for those with out commitment issues but it wasn’t for me, I needed a different idea! I found I have commitment issues when it comes to food, I might not be in the mood for what I have assigned to that night and there it was staring me in the face permanently on paper.
I finally figured out how to meal plan without permanent commitment. The struggle for ideas for meals, and getting stuck in a rut was real for me. Having ideas right in front of me helps a ton when I’m planning and ordering groceries.
Post-It Flag Meal Planning
These Post-It Flags each have a meal idea or dish on each one, snacks too. Really anything edible – mine used to be organized, but not so much anymore. I pick my meals and snacks for the week and put those flags in my planner.
In my traditional paper planner I usually leave the flags for a few weeks so that as I’m choosing meals I don’t choose the same ones week after week! Then after a few weeks I round-up all the flags, put them back in the list and use them again.
In my digital planner I made “flags” using the highlight tool, then wrote on top of that the meal. I simply use the lasso tool to copy and then paste onto that week.
I like flexibility, we have a lot of unknowns as far as how the day goes so having the flexibility to change a meal in my planner makes me feel better – it’s written just no in stone.
