I LOVE FUNNEL CAKES! Not just during the county or state fair but all the time, so I made an executive decision to make them at home whenever I felt like it!
I honestly never knew how super easy making funnel cakes could be! My kids bought this great kit Funnel Cake Kit one year for Christmas and I was in funnel cake heaven! But figured the batter had to be pretty simple to make out of ingredients I already had in my kitchen! While the kit is a fun way to get started this is a super easy recipe that will impress anyone you make these for and you can make them in no time at all!
The making was super easy! We used the pitcher that came with the kit but I also wanted to try a squeeze bottle, I felt a little more in control with the squeeze bottle, especially when we made Funnel Cake Fries! I will say the metal ring that came with the kit was a big help!
So while the funnel cake recipe is super easy and frying them is fun — let’s talk toppings!
We dabbled in Strawberry Ice Cream Topping, Marshmallow Fluff, Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream Topping, Cherry Pie Filling and the traditional Powdered Sugar!
Can I just say, for us, Powdered Sugar was the hands down winner! Although the Funnel Cake Fries coated in Powdered Sugar and dipped in melted Marshmallow Fluff was divine!
I’ll be honest I was a little intimidated by frying, I have had a deep fryer before and found them to be a messy, yucky, pain in the butt! I also was concerned with keeping the oil a consistent temperature on my stove. So I pulled out my electric skillet, can I just say while millions of people probably already thought of this I personally felt like a genius when I thought of it myself!
