I love my crock pot, I love beer and I love brats! So how did it take me this long to figure out that Crock Pot Beer Brats should be a thing?
I love grilled brats but in all honesty I never make them because to get them done on the inside I feel like they end up overly crispy {aka burnt}! I have seen people cook them on the stovetop or in a crockpot but then, me being me, I miss the little crispy bite……..I’m hard to please!
But then it occurred to me I should be able to have my cake and eat it too – OH CAKE SOUNDS GOOD – but I digress! Brats, Jennifer, we are talking Brats – pull yourself together and concentrate…….
Why not cook those brats all day slow and steady in some of your favorite beer, then when it’s time to eat throw those puppies {not actual puppies but the brats} onto the grill for a quick sear! You not only get the great flavor of a beer soaked brat but the flavor of the grill all in the same bite!
And honestly what a time saver when having company or tailgating – instead of spending your time standing over the grill! This way you get the grill marks and grill flavor with only a few minutes of grilling time which means more time for friends and family………and beer!
I used my favorite beer – Yuenling! Now if your a Yuenling fan you’re saying to yourself “Jent I know you live in Indiana and I know they don’t sell Yuenling in Indiana!!”
Well I say to you – I know people!
I say – My name is Jennifer and I am Yuenling bootlegger!
UPDATE: Yuengling now available in Indiana because we are super lucky!
But your favorite beer is what you should use – so go forth and simmer your brats in beer!
