Cream Cheese Cookies are now my go-to easy cake mix cookie. A cookie made with a yellow cake mix and cream cheese, bring it on!
Sometimes when I run out of ideas I pull out my trusty cookbooks, I have several go-to’s and my church cookbooks are in that group! This recipe jumped off the page at me when I saw yellow cake mix and cream cheese – two ingredients I love separately and together! One of my favorite things in the world is , so now when I crave the yellow cake mix and cream cheese combo but don’t have a can of cherry pie filling this will be my go-to sweet – I seriously couldn’t believe how easy they were to throw together!
I always giggle at ‘the latest craze’ – like cake mix cookies or and ‘frying’ bacon in the oven! The cookbook I found this Cream Cheese Cookie recipe in is older, a lot older than Pinterest but in it is this cake mix cookie recipe! And ‘frying’ bacon in the oven – well I growing up I didn’t know that nobody knew that trick, it’s the only way my Mom ever cooked bacon!
I once had a friend tell me “there is no such thing as a new recipe”! It’s so true and when it comes to food/recipe blogging it made me step back and take a deep breath. I love cooking and baking but recipe development is so not my thing – I suck at actually measuring things so it is a continual struggle for me ‘develop’ recipes! So being able to just share family favorites and old recipes that may have been lost in the new age shuffle make me happy. I love when my kids ask to make something in the kitchen and instead of asking for the recipe just ask if it’s on my blog yet so they can look it up!

I love cream cheese in almost anything, so I will be making these this weekend. But I also love lemon flavor, so— should I leave out the vanilla, and add lemon peel and extract along with the vanilla or stick with the original cookies for the first time? You have so many tasty sounding recipes, glad I found your site. I also love looking thru older church and charity cookbooks. They make up a good part of my 50 year+ collection.( oops, just gave away my age, almost!) Happy baking! Dee (XtexGal)
