I love to keep on hand my Cocktail Simple Syrup. A rich simple syrup that is easy to make and works perfect for cocktails and keeps in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks.
A traditional simple syrup is a 1:1 ratio of sugar and water. For mixed drinks, I like it a little sweeter so I like a cup and a half of sugar for every cup of water.
Cocktail Simple Syrup
Recipe Notes:
- Traditional simple syrup is a 1:1 ratio of sugar and water, this is more sugar and I think better in cocktails.
- DO NOT BRING TO A BOIL – this won’t take long on low heat, it only needs to barely simmer. Bringing it to a boil or cooking too long will caramelize the sugar and then it will crystalize after a day or so.
- This will keep in an airtight bottle for 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator!
Use this recipe in:
- Amaretto Sour
- Lemon Drop Martini
- Blackberry Bramble Cocktail from Farmwife Drinks
- Black Widow Cocktail
